For several years now, Hall Wesleyan Church has engaged the community through a fun evening of family-centered fun we call "Fall Fest." This year's emphasis was designed to feature our new pastors and to highlight some of what the Kids and Youth experience on Sunday nights.
The afternoon started off with family games led by Nolan Crosson and Amber Allison.
Meanwhile, Lamoine Baldock gave rides on his restored 1941 military jeep and the kids enjoyed some bouncing - the younger ones on the inflatable castle and the older kids on the Swishers' trampoline. It was cold and windy outside, so after awhile we moved inside for some more games, a surprise birthday cake for Pastor David, and a great potluck dinner.
Then we moved into the sanctuary for a great program. Pastor Jessica kicked things off with some great singing, the Kids' Club showed us some of what they had been learning (both songs and actions), and the youth did several hilarious and silly skits. Then Pastor David invited Hall's own Amber Allison to serve as the contestant on the "Bible Version" of "Deal or No Deal," with the Pharoah serving as the banker and our teens as caseholders.
We took a brief commercial break for some more great youth skits, and then finished up the Deal or No Deal: Bible Edition. One highlight was when Amber opened case #1 to reveal a plague of locusts, and to help her consider Pharoah's offer, she had a surprise video appearance by her brother Jeff, who had been "living in the land of Egypt" and wanted some relief from the locust plague!
Pastor David has created an interactive DVD which includes a fully edited copy of the Program (the video clips on this page are just a few excerpts of the full 1 hr, 22 min program), highlights from the Games & Activities, and a slideshow of all the best pictures which were taken.
He's offering it for $10 (just enough to cover the costs of producing it). Contact Pastor David to get your copy.
The youth group at Hall Wesleyan Church provided several funny sketches as the "commercial break" (intermission) during the "Deal or No Deal: Bible Edition" parody. Performers include: Tricia Kiser, Julie Gavin, Montana Davis, Zach Allison, Tommy Pudge, Austin Crosson, Lydia Swisher, Anna Trahan, Jenny Gavin, and youth leader Jessica Swisher.
Our youth group meets on Sunday nights at 6:30 pm.

Another highlight of our Fall Fest was the debut of "Deal or No Deal: Bible Edition", inspired by the popular game show but definitely one-of-a-kind. In this clip, Pastor David introduces the concept and the characters (contestant Amber Allison, banker/Pharoah Lydia Swisher, and caseholders - the Youth Group).
This clip features contestant Amber Allison opening the case that reveals a Plague of Locusts in her quest for the million-dollar prize of Freedom. Even Amber wasn't expecting the surprise video appearance by her brother Jeff.
We expect to post an excerpt of Amber and Chris Allison's piano & organ duet as soon as that editing is completed.
When the video is finished, it will air on Salina's Community Access TV cable channel 20 and possibly also on the Minneapolis local cable channel. As soon as air dates are known, we'll announce them here and in the bulletin.
